The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), a six-time National Recreation and Parks Association Gold Medal Award Winner, is seeking an Area Recreation Program Manager for the Enterprise Division within the Montgomery County Department of Parks. The Department serves a diverse population of more than one million residents in Montgomery County, Maryland, and manages 419 parks on more than 37,000 acres of parkland. The Department has an annual operating budget of over $100 million, a six-year Capital Improvement Program of over $180 million, and a career staff of nearly 800 employees.
The Area Recreation Program Manager is responsible for assisting the Enterprise Division Chief with an annual operating budget of $11 million and oversight of the division which has 33 career employees and over 200 seasonal employees. The Enterprise Division manages or oversees the operation of 16 distinct facilities that are entirely or primarily funded through user fees, rentals, and other non-tax revenue sources. The facilities include ice rinks, indoor tennis facilities, event centers, a synthetic turf pavilion, and several park facilities such as the miniature trains, carousel, boat facilities, campground, splash park, mini golf course, driving range, and oversight of several recreation facility leases.
This position would be directly responsible for overseeing the facilities and staff at two indoor tennis facilities (Pauline Betz Addie and Wheaton Indoor Tennis), Cabin John Ice Rink, two boating facilities (Black Hill Boats and Lake Needwood Boats), South Germantown Driving Range, South Germantown Splash Park and Miniature Golf Course, and assist with oversight of the Active Montgomery staff who manage and support the registration and reservation system for the Department.

1. Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation (master's degree preferred) or related field, and five years of progressively responsible full-time experience, including two years supervising a recreation program; or an equivalent combination of nine years of education and experience; or
2. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
