This job is located in the Parks and Recreation Department of The City of Oklahoma City and reports directly to a division or department head. The Unit Operations Supervisor is primarily responsible for coordinating and managing staff and operational activities of multiple small work sections or a large specialized work section of clerical, administrative and technical classifications. Essential job functions include: preparing sectional budgets and goals and objectives reports for submission to the Division or Department Head; writing specifications for bids on equipment, materials, supplies, etc., and reviewing bids submitted to determine best supplier; monitoring operational expenditures; reviewing federal, state and local standards and regulations to ensure compliance with guidelines; implementing productivity improvement measures; preparing complex technical reports for submission to Department Head, City Manager and/or federal/state agencies; etc.

Department Preferences: (1) BA or MA in Recreation Management or related field. (2) Experience in generating a mixture of free and fee-based public programming for large municipalities with an understanding of how to evaluate the return on investment of programs to achieve self-sufficiency and program effectiveness. (3) Monitor the division's pricing of services, staff and contract employees' payroll, sales and other revenues and expenses to meet budget and forecast goals. (4) Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. (5) Experience in municipal budgeting. (6) Five (5) or more years' experience managing recreation staff and creating public programs. (7) Experience providing training for return on investment to staff.
Additional Salary Information: The normal starting salary for this position is $59,967.36/annually. A higher salary may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and/or the City's step placement policy.
