The City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department is seeking a highly energetic and experienced individual to serve as its new Supervisor IV (Chief Park Ranger). This position will oversee and provide direction to the Park Ranger program which currently consists of 9 Park Rangers but will increase to 12 on October 1, 2019.
Dallas Park Rangers are a team of dedicated men and women that support the department’s mission by providing efficient and effective services to park visitors. As Park Rangers, they embody public safety and security while fostering environmental stewardship. Easily recognizable in their uniforms, the Park Rangers monitor parks, trails, and recreation facilities across the city and educate park goers on park regulations, ordinances and safety measures to ensure a memorable experience.
Park and Recreation: This position is a Management position that possess an excellent management skill set and customer service outreach abilities. Applicant must be approachable and well versed on park and city rules/policies and basic park maintenance practices.

Associate's degree in any field.
Six (6) years of experience developing/implementing community education programs related to community services, park and recreation programs and/or safety issues; or developing park safety policies/procedures.
Two (2) years supervisory responsibilities (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above)
High school diploma OR GED plus eight (8) years of the required experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity will meet the education and experience requirements
A bachelor's degree or higher in any field plus four (4) years of the required experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity will meet the education and experience requirements
A master's degree or higher in any field plus two (2) years of the required experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity will meet the education and experience requirements
LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION:
Valid driver's license with good driving record
CPR/AED Certification can be obtained within 6-month probationary period
May be subject to inclement weather conditions.
Availability to work some evenings and weekends
Subject to being on call
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of park and recreation policies and City ordinances
Excellent internal/external customer service skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
MS Office or similar software skills
Ability to articulate and provide Update Reports/Presentations on behalf of the Park Ranger Program.
