Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Recreation, the Aquatic Facility Manager is responsible for oversight of all district aquatic operations including the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center Facility (outdoor) and its Concession Operations, FitNation Swimming Facility (indoor), and all swim programs as well as those held at non-district facilities (i.e. Warren Township High School). Direct reports include: Aquatic Coordinator, Pool Managers, Swim Lesson Coordinators, and Customer Service Managers. This is a Recreation Department fulltime position with a normal workweek of a minimum of 40 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Plan, coordinate, schedule and supervise all district aquatic operations including the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center and its Concession Operations, FitNation swimming pool operations (in cooperation with Fitness Facility Manager), all swim programs including those held at non-district sites such as Warren Township High School Pool.
Develop, implement, evaluate and make recommendations for programs in your area. Strive to have your programs be innovative, interesting, rewarding and fun for the participants.
Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and provide schedules for all necessary staff including observance of necessary guidelines for Lifeguards and Pool Managers as established by Ellis & Associated Lifeguard Training Program.
Continually evaluate programs and facilities through direct observation, program evaluations and other methods of evaluation within the assigned area.
Work cooperatively with other departments to ensure smooth program and building operations.
Work cooperatively with host schools for use of their swimming pools to deliver district swim programs.
Assign regular building inspections to ensure safe, clean, and inviting facilities for customers.
Submit appropriate work orders for needed repairs, program/event setups, and other maintenance.
Prepare seasonal program, facility, and event information to be published by our Marketing Department
Prepare a budget and goals for your area annually and work to achieve these goals.
Prepare and deliver staff evaluations annually and provide oversight to your direct reports for evaluations they give to their staff.
Provide oversight into the development and implementation of necessary manuals.
Complete necessary records, statistics, and reports as assigned and follow departmental guidelines for receiving customer feedback. Other reporting includes completing all necessary Ellis & Associates related reports.
Complete necessary district, local, or state inspection forms and other information as required.
All other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve on internal committees as assigned.
Serve on external committees as assigned, including the Blue Devil Swim Club.
Assist the Director of Recreation with administrative duties, as needed.
Assist the Executive Director in the absence of the Director of Recreation, as assigned.
The physical demands of this position are minimal most of the time. Most of your job will be at a desk or on site for program or event delivery. Occasionally movement of supplies, equipment, or uniforms is necessary in which case the maximum weight that you are expected to be able to lift is 50 lbs., though typically it will be less than this. Some bending, twisting, and kneeling may be necessary at your desk or in support of certain recreation programs/events. However, several times a month you most likely will be physically involved in leading staff trainings which could include performing the physical requirements of a lifeguard which could include jumping, swimming, submerging in deep water, bending and twisting, grabbing, and lifting an adult with the assistance of a backboard out of a swimming pool. These physical demands are systematic and the ideal candidate shall exhibit the ability to perform these tasks. During Mid-May through September, majority of work will be in an outdoor environment with exposure to natural sunlight, rain, and varying temperatures. During September through Mid-May, work will be primarily indoors working at an enclosed indoor pool with high levels of humidity.
Hours: Full-time, salaried position
Compensation: Salary range is $51,000 - $63,000. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Includes an excellent benefit package.

Experience: Three years of supervisory responsibility in aquatic programs and facilities is preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Education, or related field is required.
Skills: Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the recreation industry specific to aquatic programming. This person must possess creativity and the ability to initiate new concepts and programs. Possesses the knowledge and ability to organize, plan, and supervise a wide variety of programs, events, staff and facilities. Must be able to interpret customer needs and interests, as well as possess the ability to grasp ideas and concepts, and analyze and implement them. Must have the ability to prepare budgets, manuals and program guidelines for these areas. Must be able to work with various computer software applications and mobile devices.
Certifications: Valid Driver’s License, Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Instructor preferred, or must be obtained within 45 days of hire and must be maintained. Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO), Certified Pool Operator (CPO), Food Service and Sanitation certification, and CPRP preferred.
Competencies: This position must possess a thorough knowledge of the recreation programs and facilities they will be responsible for including group swim lessons, private swim lessons, lifeguard classes, swim team knowledge, and proven experience in managing aquatic facility operations. Knowledge of state, local and national standards in these areas is also important.
