Bachelor's degree. A minimum of three years of professional administrative and supervisory experience to include two years of public relations, marketing and special events coordination is required.
Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department (PROS) is seeking a highly motivated candidate with a collaborative leadership style, employing innovative, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with multiple agencies while effectively managing individuals to serve as its Communications and Public Relations Manager.
This is an advanced management level and administrative position, responsible for the Department's communication and public relations strategies to ensure its message is consistent and engaging. This position is responsible for the development of strategic communications programs and elevating the awareness of the department's parks and programs profile in the community. The position incumbent will lead all communication aspects from content creation to furthering the Department's brand while marketing its unique benefits and value. Efforts include brand messaging development and management, development of strategic communications programs; media relations, media strategizing, serving as Department spokesperson, management of parks speakers bureau, and budget management.

Key messaging: Develop department’s key messaging and coordinate its consistent implementation across all communications programs and outlets, including:

Responsible for identifying and building relationships with new and existing editors, reporters, producers, bloggers and tech analysts to increase media coverage. Uncover and maximize exposure opportunities with key media outlets and trade publications. Create and implement a Parks Speakers Bureau. Serve as chief media strategist and department spokesperson; own crisis communications planning and implementation. Campaign and Event Management
Monitor industry trends and issues and competitive landscape to inform director and adjust positioning and messaging as required. Lead, develop, motivate, manage and work with a high performing team, including design agencies and contractors, to meet productivity and strategic goals and business objectives while staying within budget.
