TOWN OF COVENTRY seeks a Parks & Recreation Program Supervisor
The Recreation Program Supervisor position performs responsible diversified and administrative work in preparing, coordinating, and implementing recreational programs for the town. Work includes scheduling and supervising staff; maintaining records and preparing reports; and performing public relations and customer service functions for the department. Position is responsible for the supervision of up to 130 seasonal employees and recommends the hiring, firing, and discipline of employees. Employee evaluates and schedules the work of employees. Employees are located in separate locations than the supervisor. Workload is subject to seasonal fluctuations that can usually be planned for in advance.
A candidate for this position should have a Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Health, Physical Education, or related field and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a municipal recreation setting or closely related field, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent education and experience.
Possess a valid RI Driver’s License
About Town of Coventry, Rhode Island
The town is bordered by Connecticut, to the west. It is the largest town in land area in Rhode Island. Population was approximately 35,000 in 2010 census. Coventry offers youth sports leagues for football, basketball, baseball, and softball; a town fresh water beach; and summer youth day camp. The Parks & Recreation department maintains much of the 15 miles of greenway opened to the public as a walking, cycling, and horse trail.
