Arlington County Therapeutic Recreation Office is seeking dedicated, compassionate, and FUN staff to help facilitate a memorable summer camp experience for participants with disabilities. Camp options are:
INCLUSION SUPPORT – PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO CAMPERS WITH DISABILITIES, AGES 3-15, IN GENERAL RECREATION CAMPS
ADVENTURE QUEST (TEEN AND YOUNG ADULT AGES) ASSIST CAMPERS WITH DISABILITIES, AGES 12-21, IN AN ADAPTED CAMP SETTING.
PROJECT FIVE (TEEN, YOUNG ADULT AGES) – ASSIST CAMPERS WITH AND WITHOUT DISABILITIES, AGES 13 – 21, AS THEY WORK TOGETHER TO COMPLETE SERVICE PROJECTS AND FOSTER PEER FRIENDSHIPS IN AN INCLUSIVE SETTING.
SUBSTITUTE SUPPORT –THIS IS FOR AN APPLICANT WHO IS N OT LOOKING FOR OR NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN A 20-40 HOUR WORK WEEK.
Each camp needs staff at various positions (see right panel). Recreation Assistants (RA) support campers and have the opportunity to plan and facilitate activities throughout the camp day.
SUMMER RECREATION ASSISTANT I- $13.13/Hour Responsible for assisting with the leading of recreation activities and behavior management of participants for a summer camp. Assist in camp or program operations. Minimum requirements: Completion of requirements for graduation from high school or GED equivalent, plus three months experience in administering recreational programs. CPR and First Aid Certification is desirable for applicants hired at this level.
SUMMER RECREATION ASSISTANT II- $13.97/Hour Responsible for assisting in the planning, leading, and conducting of recreation activities for a camp, behavior management of participants, and assisting in the evaluations of the activities and the participants. Minimum requirements: Completion of requirements for graduation from high school or GED equivalent, plus six months experience in administering recreational programs or facility monitoring. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required for all applicants hired at this level.
