The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation is seeking a Head Girls Gymnastics Coach. The gymnastics program under the Sports, Health and Wellness Division, was recognized as the State and Regional Club of the Year by USA Gymnastics in 2014. The successful candidate must has a positive attitude, be motivated, willing to learn, enthusiastic, and have the ability to work as part of a team. Experience should include coaching gymnastics, specifically levels 2-10 and ability to spot level 5-10, and a passion to continue the growth of this nationally recognized program.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES:
Oversee the development and the day to day operations of the Girls Competitive program and the transition of gymnasts from non-competitive to competitive.
Assist with coordinating seasonal/intermittent team coaches' schedules/training as well as team training schedules.
Train athletes in preparation for competitions.
Assist with researching, creating, and implementing training curriculum for optional athlete development.
Manage gym floor by assisting coaches, instructors, parents, and student/athletes when, and as needed.
Communicate with various cross-functional venues within assigned complex and in the Sports, Health and Wellness division to properly administer policies and procedures.
Attend, assist, and lead relevant meetings, workshops, and continuing education programs as required by the Manager of Gymnastics.
Provide guidance to subordinate staff on employee-related matters (i.e., disciplinary, training, recruitment, and selection, etc.)
Assist with maintaining gym cleanliness and equipment by performing weekly safety checks and promoting safety awareness at all times.
Work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays; travel as necessary with the gymnastics competitive team.
Participate and perform Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities as needed.
Other duties and special projects, as assigned to include oversight of recreational programming as well as season summer camps.
1. Bachelors degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; or
2. An equivalent combination of education and experience; and
3. A valid driver's license or ability to acquire one.
4. A valid operating license (e.g., county pool operator's license, child care license) as appropriate.
