Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing hazardous situations and responding to emergencies. Lead responsibilities may be assigned. The position reports to the aquatics assistant supervisor or supervisor.
WORK SCHEDULE: Hours and shifts vary for this position from week to week and will include weekends, evenings and holidays
Highland Family Aquatic Center or Southwest Pool.
Schedule is determined weekly and can vary up to 40 hours
Dept of Children & Family regulations require verification of two (2) references on your application. Please notify them in advance that, if chosen, City of Largo will be contacting them for verification.
Limited vacations will be reviewed during the summer months
Training and Experience:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required (please upload a copy of your current card to your application.)
Adult/Infant/Child CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications are required
WSI Certifications are preferred
Hiring preference is given to candidates also having WSI Certification (Additional incentive will be offered - $1.00/hr)
Some positions require a valid driver's license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of modern lifesaving techniques and procedures.
Skill in swimming and supervision of swimmers in the area of preventive safety methods.
react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and patrons
focus for extended periods of time
prepare routine reports, paperwork, etc.
If WSI certified: Ability to instruct all levels of American Red Cross Swimming Classes
Additional Salary Information: WSI CERTIFICATION INCENTIVE: Additional $1.00 per hour (Total $12.00 / hr)
