The Vermont Recreation and Parks Association (VRPA) seeks a part time (average 30 hrs/wk) Executive Director to handle all administrative functions and manage the operations of the association. The VRPA was formed in 1948. The association is managed by a 9-member executive board and a part-time executive director. The VRPA mission is to “Provide training and resources to help Vermont’s recreation professionals and volunteers to “Create Community through People, Parks and Programs”. The VRPA Executive Director reports directly to the VRPA President and coordinates the association’s meetings, trainings, programs and annual conference. Preference will be given to candidates who have extensive experience running a nonprofit association or company and/or a recreation department.
Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills, be self-motivated, be detail-oriented and have a proven record of achieving success through a collaborative team approach. Outstanding organization, analytical, communication and planning skills are essential. The ability to manage a budget set by the Executive Board is critical. Individuals who have a love for delivering services to a dedicated group of professionals from around the state are encouraged to apply.
The final candidate will have a great deal of responsibility in growing and sustaining the organization and must demonstrate the desire to achieve these goals.
This is a contracted position with limited benefits. The successful candidate will work from a home office. The compensation range is $38,000 - $50,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2019.
