This position is responsible for assisting the Parks and Recreation Director with planning, promoting, organizing and administering the department; coordinating assigned activities within the department, with other city departments and outside agencies; and providing administrative support to management. Duties include assisting in the development, monitoring and coordination of departmental budgets and recreation center revenue accounts, to include operating accounts and capital improvement projects; developing reports and making presentations and recommendations to the city manager, city council and other departments, as well as boards, agencies and community groups; assisting with directing and overseeing the development of the department’s work plan; providing direct supervision of the parks superintendent and recreation manager; initiating departmental training programs; and coordinating and overseeing the use of department personnel, equipment and facilities to assist in emergency and disaster situations where needed.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in park administration or a closely related field; seven (7) years of related experience, to include at least two (2) years of supervisory experience; and the possession of a valid Class C Texas driver’s license, or the ability to obtain within specified timeframe, are required.
