As a member of the Parks, Recreation and Culture team, incumbents in this seasonal position are responsible for assisting with the overall supervision and planning of the CARA Swimming team. Conducts team practice sessions and meets. Work is performed in accordance with standard practice and methods requiring initiative to complete recurring assignments independently and judgement to determine which methods are applicable in any given situation. Finished work is reviewed for accuracy, quality, and completeness. Unfamiliar situations are referred to the supervisor.
Teaches skills and techniques of recreational swimming to youth populations ages 8 to 18. Serves as a coach and mentor in support of CARA goals and program. May participate in special events and/or other activities as assigned.
This temporary employment may be scheduled through the year on a full-time basis depending on the needs of the town, but will not exceed six months in length (or 1,040 hours, whichever comes first). This is strictly temporary (“at will”) employment which may be terminated at any time and does not lead to regular full-time employment.

High school diploma or GED
Must be age 18 or older
Minimum two (2) years swim coach/instructor experience with general knowledge of fundamentals of rules and sport.
Prior coaching and/or group leading experience with youth populations preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Swim Lesson Instructor or Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
