Zionsville Parks and Recreation Department is conducting a search for Part-Time Staff for their 60- acre, 9-Hole Golf Facility.
The position of Golf Course Manager serves as overall course manager and in particular, manages the pro shop, coordinates with leagues, organizes golf outings for visiting groups, and fully manages all such related staff (see additional information in the accompanying job description). In addition to directly overseeing the course operations and being ultimately responsible for all PT staffing at the course, the Course Manager also works closely with PT position of the Golf Course Greens Superintendent. The Greens Superintendent works as a greenkeeper, course caretaker, and managing those related outdoor course maintenance activities and staff.
Both of these main positions, Course Manager and Greens Superintendent, are essentially year-round part-time. Each has fewer scheduled hours in the winter than would needed during the course’s typical, main operational season. , this can be especially true during the busy summer hours from May through August. Both positions need flexibility as they can require evening and weekend work depending on scheduled outings, weather issues, etc. For example, sometimes the course is closed all day because of cold or rain. Effectively both positions can work no more than 1500 hours in a year and we keep both positions to a yearly average of 3 days/week. Again; it can be more than that average during summer weeks, less in the winter.
By Town Ordinance, all part time wages are capped at $12/hr. While certainly not required, for the first eight years both these two prime positions had been ably filled by the same two retired personal, whose schedule allowed more flexibility. Previous related golf course management experience highly preferable! And of course, love of the game is also a big help
