Over the past several years, the District has become a leader in land stewardship through responsible green space care and the incorporation of native plantings and restored landscapes throughout its parks and golf course. Working under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks and Facilities this exciting new position will lead the charge to bring the District’s natural area management in-house.
The maintenance department is a hardworking team that keeps its parks and facilities in impeccable condition. Your coworkers are easy to get along with and eager to learn about natural resources management as to provide this position the support and manpower it needs to get these new initiatives off the ground. The successful candidate will be a positive team player with a passion for natural resource management and the enthusiasm to share that passion with staff and the community.
The Natural Areas and Park Specialist will also maintain landscaped areas and decorative plantings, provide support to general park and equipment maintenance, and work with the public as well as community partners to raise awareness about stewardship in Sycamore.

The Sycamore Park District is a tax-based recreation and wellness service provider in Sycamore, IL. Along with being stewards of Sycamore’s neighborhood parks, community parks, athletic fields and natural areas, the District provides a wide variety of recreational, social and educational opportunities and services. The District is in the midst of a period of growth as it fulfills its long-range plan, ACTION 2020. Facilities and services continue to expand with the 2018 additions of a community center, splashpad, and sled hill along with an upcoming dog park, sports complex expansion and golf course improvements.
