The Murrysville Recreation Department is currently seeking experienced and enthusiastic individuals to facilitate and supervise fun and exciting outdoor activities for participants of Murrysville’s Summer Park Adventures (SPA) Program. As the Summer Park Program Assistant you’re expected to cultivate camper’s curiosity while ensuring children are safe, engaged and supported, while the space, equipment and supplies are organized and prepared. Being a Summer Park Program Assistant is a rewarding part-time position which provides hands-on experience working with children in an outdoor setting. This is an ideal position for high school and college students. The Summer Park Program Assistants will be expected to work Monday thru Friday, June 10 to July 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (no vacations during this time). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Engage constantly with participants in fun, challenging and creative daily activities • Assist in supervision of volunteers and participating children • Ensure that equipment and supplies are organized and cared for • Assist in maintaining good records for reports and related information • Miscellaneous assignments may be given at the discretion of the Recreation Director and/or Summer Park Program Supervisor • Other tasks as needed
Additional Duties and Responsibilities: • Be a positive role model • Communicate clearly and courteously with other staff, parents, and participants • Actively supervise the participants at all times and follow good practice discipline procedures • Keep Summer Park Program Supervisor alerted to all potential problems and issues
Qualifications: • Must be at least 16 years of age • Experience in working with and directing youth and recreation programs and interfacing with groups of people • Excellent interpersonal skills in motivating , directing and supervising participants in a variety of activities
Special Requirements: • CPR/AED & First Aid Certification
Additional Salary Information: The hours of employment are six on-site hours per day when the program is in session. Additional hours must be authorized by the Recreation Director.
