Under the supervision of the Park Managers or Director, assists with the supervision of and performs the work necessary to operate and maintain the County Parks System. Acts as the Relief Manager in the absence of the Park Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to, supervision of seasonal employees, volunteers, recruitment and activities, nature and recreation programming, stewardship, special events, sponsorships/partnerships, community service workers, and inmate crews, overseeing and participating in visitor assistance, rule and regulation enforcement, landscaping and fertilization, building and equipment repair and upkeep, department-operated revenue fund activities, and other required duties. Functions as a working foreperson during the off season, performing tasks related to winter sports operations maintenance and construction operations. Serves as supervising winter sports manager for all tube/snow hill operations in the absence of the manager. May be required to report to the Director as assigned to perform administrative tasks
In the absence of the Park Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the park(s) as assigned.
Assists with the supervision of seasonal, volunteers, community service workers, inmate crews, and occasionally full-time employees engaged in park maintenance and operational activities. Assists with scheduling of work, provides training and supervision for seasonal and full-time employees, as warranted.
Performs and assists with the assignment and supervision of maintenance and repair activities such as mowing, trimming, clearing of trees and brush, sign repair, aeration, fertilization, etc.
Performs and assists with the assignment and supervision of maintenance and repair work on park buildings, structures, and equipment including roofing, painting, plumbing repairs, carpentry and other areas of general maintenance.
Assists park police in the enforcement of rules and regulations during the summer months. Takes lead in the enforcement and initial contact of enforcement of all park rules and regulations during the non-summer months.
Takes lead or assists with volunteer recruitment and activities, nature and recreation programming, stewardship, special events, and sponsorships/partnerships.
Assists with monitoring reservations. Oversees snack bar, rentals, and other revenue activities.
Assists with accounting for all monies collected and maintains other records such as equipment and material inventory, employee attendance, car counts, etc.
Functions as a Crew Leader during the off season, performing tasks related to winter sports and other maintenance and construction activities. In the absence of the Park Ranger responsible for all types of skilled trades and duties typically performed by the Park Ranger position that talents and skills allow for.
Assists in the operation and supervises all snow making equipment; snow making is a 24/7 operation starting Mid-November to March, and facilities and staffing to provide and maintain snow and all facilities operations (magic carpet, tubes, etc.) of the tube/snow hill throughout the annual season
May be required to assist the Park Director with administrative duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Must adhere to departmental standards in regard to HIPAA and other privacy issues.
During a public health emergency, the employee may be required to perform duties similar to, but not limited, to those in his/her job description.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in any field. A degree in Parks and Recreation Administration preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in parks operations, services or a related field is required. Prior experience operating and maintaining a splash pad preferred.
Ability to obtain a State License as a Pesticide Applicator is required within six months of hire date.
Ability to obtain Professional Food Manager Certification within six months of hire date.
Ability to obtain a National Playground Safety Inspector Certification within six months of hire date.
Ability to be trained to operated and maintain a splash pad within six months of hire date.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
