Responsible for the development, marketing, implementation and supervision of youth and adult athletic programs. Contributes to the overall success of the Athletic Division team through collaboration, planning, and innovative thinking to achieve division and departmental goals.
Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Superintendent and Recreation Supervisor-Athletics. Supervises athletic seasonal and part-time employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, organizes, schedules, promotes, instructs, supervises and evaluates a large number of youth and adult athletic programming with an emphasis on adult sports and youth tournaments and camps.
Recruits, trains, schedules and evaluates the performance of seasonal/part-time employees, camp instructors and volunteers. Maintains discipline, conduct, appearance and all required records of personnel within respective area of department.
Assists with registration for departmental sports programs, and answers specific program, registration and operational questions.
Responsible for ensuring that program surveys are distributed on a regular basis.
Assists in concession operations including purchasing and ensuring adequate inventory of supplies.
Prepares and administers program budgets. Controls expenditure of budgeted funds and recommends specifications for major equipment and material purchases.
Will be required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends or holidays.
Plans and implements short-term or annual goals, objectives and strategies for the department to ensure efficient organization and completion of work.
Exercises direct authority over all systems and personnel in accordance with approved policy and procedure.
Performs special assignments as requested, including researching and preparing reports and special projects.
Deals effectively and courteously with fellow employees and the general public.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Management, Recreation and Leisure Studies or related area plus two (2) years of previous work experience in a recreational environment. Previous sports programming and supervisory experience preferred. Work experience may be substituted for education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Overall professionalism displaying the utmost integrity, discretion, courtesy, cooperation, discipline, and behavior.
Must have a valid Missouri State Driver’s License.
Must have current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification through the American Red Cross or become certified within six (6) months of employment.
