The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation is a well-respected leader in the field with an unprecedented six national gold medals for excellence. The Sports, Health, and Wellness Division (SHWD) provides recreational sporting opportunities for people of all ages and skill levels. An array of competitive and non-competitive sports are offered through clinics, programs, leagues, tournaments and special events for youth and adults. SHWD is dedicated to creating healthy communities through people, parks and programs by offering family-oriented and culturally informed health, nutrition and exercise programs, and educational opportunities that work together to improve the quality for all Prince George's County residents.
Among the many services and programs SHWD administers are: Aquatics, Athletics, Boxing, Field Permits & Usage, Golf, Ice Rinks, Sports Complexes, Tennis, Trap & Skeet, and a comprehensive program Health & Wellness activists.
The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George's County, Parks Recreation, Sport, Health & Wellness Division is seeking a Park/General Maintenance Leader whose roles and responsibilities will be as set forth below. The Prince George's County Trap and Skeet Center is a year-round multi-functional facility and one of the larges Clay Targets Shotgun facility in the East Coast.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical, Mechanical and Electrical knowledge to perform repairs on clay target machines.
Design and construct sporting clays course layout.
Order and distribute clay target inventory for all discipline of clay target shooting.
Maintain forklift, mower, skid loader, chainsaw, golf carts and other light to heavy equipment.
Maintain and repair all solar panels and batteries needed for sporting clay machines.
Organizing, rotating and keeping all clay targets, ammunition fresh an accessible position as needed.
Design and set clay targets machines for tournaments, special events throughout the year.
Coordinate with staff so all aspects of clay target venues are ready for use by the public and tournaments on scheduled dates and time, machines are in good working order and to specifications for tournament targets.
Coordinate with vendors for support, parts and supplies
Supervise, train and manage personnel
Weekend work required
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of shotgun clay targets shooting and all discipline
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate various clay target activities
1. High school graduate or GED, and five years of progressively responsible experience in grounds maintenance, building maintenance, and park maintenance; or
2. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. Pass Commission medical examination.
4. Valid driver's license.
5. Additionally, contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require: a. Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements upon appointment, or the ability to acquire one within six months. b. Maryland Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator's certification in the categories appropriate to the work assignment. c. Certification by the National Playground Safety Institute.
