Responsible for the administration of the Parks & Grounds Division, including oversight and management of facilities, amenities, operations, personnel, contracted services, and division budgets. Reviews and provides input on City landscape and park development plans to ensure viability and resource availability for implementation. Initiates and oversees park projects to ensure efficient and timely execution. Administers City landscape and tree ordinances, conducts field inspections of all City Parks & Recreation sites, and takes action to correct any issues. Works as a liaison among the Parks and Recreation Divisions, other City departments and outside organizations. Works on call after hours/weekends to coordinate emergency response needs and special requests. Participates on City, multi-jurisdictional, and non-profit committees/boards.
Job Requirements Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management or related field is required.
Experience: Over six years of progressively responsible experience in the Parks and Recreation field to include experience in budgeting, supervising staff, project management, and landscaping is required. Extensive knowledge of horticulture and arboriculture is preferred.
Driver's License Required: Class D South Caroline License required.
Certifications and Other Requirements: CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification within 3 months of employment. South Carolina Non-Commercial Pesticides License Class 3 & 5 preferred.
