The City of Marquette is seeking a manager for our Senior Center to oversee the Center’s day-to-day operations and activities. We are looking for a professional manager with proven ability to manage people, budgets, and programs for an older population. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, recreation, or geriatrics and at least two years of recreation or aging services experience required. Experience with program development for senior citizens preferred. The City offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits package. Experience with recreational procedures and practices with demonstrated ability to develop and conduct a comprehensive community program for senior citizens.
Knowledge of modem office procedures and practices.
Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with senior citizen groups, the general public and fellow
Required experience and training includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration, recreation, or geriatrics and at least two years of recreation or aging services experience, preferably including programs for senior citizens.
Knowledge of management practices and principles.
Skill in written and oral communications.
Knowledge of basic accounting practices and grant management.
Knowledge of current trends in aging services.
Knowledge of principles and practices of effective employee supervision, including selection, training, evaluation and discipline.
A minimum of 1 year of management or supervisory

The City of Marquette is the largest city (approx. 20,000) in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is located on the shores of Lake Superior. There are approximately 175 full-time employees and several part-time and seasonal employees.
