We are seeking a Director for its Montgomery County Parks Foundation to supervise fundraising through various grants and donations, develop growth strategies and manage the fiscal responsibilities of the foundation. The Montgomery Parks Foundation Director works under the direction and guidance of the Parks Director and a Board of Trustees. Montgomery Parks Foundation is an independent 501(c) organization with a mission to create a base of support for Montgomery County Parks. This position will also serve as the Montgomery Parks Foundation liaison to the Montgomery County Parks Board of Trustees.
The Foundation Director position currently serves in a Term-Contract position located within the M-NCPPC's Montgomery County Department of Parks. The Foundation Director will be hired by the Montgomery Parks Foundation and will report to the Foundation's President and its Board of Directors.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES:
Plan, coordinate and supervise complex administrative functions for the Montgomery Parks Foundation.
Supervise four professional staff. Initiates or recommends personnel actions; ensures staff training and development; counsels or disciplines; and ensures Commission policies and procedures are followed, establishes and communicates objectives and expectations, and evaluates performance.
Administer and manage the policies and procedures established by the Montgomery County Director of Parks and the Montgomery Parks Foundation Board of Trustees.
The Montgomery Parks Foundation Director works with other managers within the department, interagency teams, to resolve problems.
By supervising, developing and administrating the Advocacy Program, the incumbent engages Montgomery County residents to support the Parks Department budget and Mission.
Conduct complex studies, papers, executive summaries, to create various reports and formal presentations.
Develop and administer the Foundation's budget and expenditures.
Manage the foundation's fundraising programs and financial goals which include capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, tribute, annual giving programs, grants and membership drives.
Administer and interpret business portion of contracts and disbursements.
Develop and supervise the annual budget and operating plan.
Manage all financial process including creating and presenting transparent financial reports.
Prepare and present project descriptions, strategic plans for fund development programs.
Coordinate and present meeting agendas in board foundation meetings and committee meetings.
Foster and maintain effective relationships with board members, donors, stakeholders, volunteers, Commission staff, community leaders, government agencies, elected officials and government agencies.
Manage the monitoring of publication projects to ensure adherence to standards and schedules; and develop a communication plan for every major plan and project.
Manage the development of the marketing process, materials and ensures that all documents are proofed and edited.
Manage, track and monitor the community relations, outreach and media relations of the department and develops shared strategic communications with senior management.
Manage multiple high-level responsibilities simultaneously and should be skilled at building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communications skills are a must.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum of 15 years direct fundraising experience with responsibility for planning, executing and maintaining philanthropic initiatives for a nonprofit;
Master's degree in related field, preferred;
Preferably a resident of Montgomery County and familiarity with Montgomery Parks;
Strong knowledge of annual fund appeals, capital campaigns, special events, corporate sponsorships, tribute programs and grants;
Excellent and demonstrable written and verbal communications skills; and
1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Finance, Business Administration or Public Administration or any related field. 2. Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience that includes substantive work in the range of duties and responsibilities in this class specification. 3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 10 years.
