BARGAINING UNIT / LEVEL: Professional Level 6/8/10
SALARY RANGE: $55,758 - $84,956 annually DOQ
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Chief of Planning & Development, this position will work directly with park staff to collaboratively plan, develop and implement comprehensive recreation programs, special recreation events and activities designed to generate revenue and increase the diversity of the Metroparks visitors. Will develop and write grant proposals to foundations and other public & private grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate HCMA's mission and programs to potential funders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Level 6:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, English, writing or similar field. Applicants with 8 or more years of related service will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.
Experience in recreational programing and grant writing preferred.
Certification through American Grant Writers’ Association (AGWA) or Grant Professionals Association (GPA) preferred.
Knowledge of recreational programming principles, procedures and techniques.
Knowledge of writing grant proposals to foundations and other public & private grant-making organizations.
Ability to plan, organize and implement recreational programs and activities.
Ability to provide direction to other employees in the area of recreational planning and outdoor education.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Director, staff officers, employees, foundations and outside agencies.
Possess excellent writing and computer skills (MS Office Suite) and database management skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes.
May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs, including special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.
Ability to perform essential duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Level 08:
Two years of experience required. A Master’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of planning experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Level 10:
Five years of experience of which at least two are full-time experience with the Metroparks.
