The Recreation Services Assistant Manager: Aquatic Operations leads a devoted aquatics and food services team, managing an indoor aquatics center housed in the 146,000 sq. ft Monon Community Center, 3.5-acre destination Waterpark (complete with Adventure Slides, a FlowRider®, lazy river, food services, and more), and 3 splash pads throughout the city.
As a part of the Recreation Facilities & Programs leadership team, this position contributes to overall operations, logistics and staff morale of the entire division through idea sharing and thinking to achieve department goals. This position has a starting salary range of $45,000-$50,000 while providing a great opportunity for professional growth.

What You’ll Be Doing
Lead. Engage with your team of 75-250 part-time employees regularly. Assist with the hiring process, scheduling, daily monitoring of work progress, inspecting completed work, and troubleshooting problems. Help provide staff the opportunity for development for the betterment of the organization and self. Evaluate staff and their performance.
Train. Develop a comprehensive plan to set staff up for success. Your training focuses on delivery of service standards, policies and procedures.
Engage. Communicate regularly with both guests and staff. Be a supporter of and the backbone to your team and get them excited about their roles and how they impact the Carmel/Clay community. Answer, relay and respond to both internal and external inquiries.
Food Service. Oversee and manage food services including seasonal concessions operations, control inventory, research new products and develop menus. Evaluate efficiencies and incorporate industry trends.
Collaborate. As part of the Recreation Facilities & Programs leadership team, you will work as one team and put your heads together to focus on the big picture. Be a visionary, innovator and contribute to department-wide strategies through research, knowledge and awareness of applicable laws and regulations, budgeting, and more.
Analyze + Recommend. Regularly dissect your area and its performance. Collect data, document and provide recommendations to all levels of staff with the intent of better solutions and service.

The Must Haves
Bachelor’s degree in recreation, business administration, hospitality management or a related field.
Two (2) year’s operations and supervisory experience.
Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite. knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Certification in American Red Cross as a lifeguard and LGI.
