The Recreation Services Manager provides executive leadership to the operations of five multi-functional recreation centers, aquatic operations (two indoor and one outdoor pool), indoor sports center, sports fields, and thousands of recreation programs. Work involves the management and development of recreation programs and facilities containing fitness centers, swimming pools, gymnasiums, sport fields, meeting/classrooms, multi-purpose spaces, and studios. Work involves providing inspirational leadership, vision, and strong communication to a dedicated team of professionals. Work is performed independently with responsibility for making final determinations in accordance with established general policies and is reviewed by the Parks, Recreation and Libraries Director through reports, conferences, meetings, or consultations.
This division executive reports to the PRL Director and collaborates with four (4) other division managers within the department and with all other City departments.
The full salary range for this position is stated above. Starting wages are negotiable and dependent on the qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. The salary range for 2019 will be $97,433 - $121,792 annually. The City of Westminster offers a bonus of up to $1,500 per year depending on the employee's fluency in Spanish, Hmong, and/or Laotian.
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and CertificationsRequired:
Master's Degree in business, public or recreation administration or related field
Five (5) years of executive level experience in recreation management and leadership
Strong communication skills
Strong emotional intelligence
Strong experience in collaboration
Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement methods
Strong budget focus; progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation work, including considerable background in the supervisory and administrative areas
Extensive supervisory experience
Demonstrated success in budget and business practices with proven capability of developing new financial resources to support growth
Experience working with diverse cultures and promoting cultural competence amongst staff and within the community
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated leadership in organizational change and transformation
Proven ability to motivate, inspire, and develop leaders within the organization
Visionary leadership and a demonstrated ability to be responsive to trends, the impact of changing information technology, and the amount of acceptable risk the City is willing to take in implementing new ideas
Possesses a valid Colorado Driver's License and maintains a safe driving record
Involvement in the state and national park and recreation associations.
Involvement with local service clubs and organizations.
Proven track record of successful implementation of innovative and trend setting programs and operations.
Master's degree is required however, equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.
