This Program Specialist position is a member of NRPA’s Partnerships and Business Development Team and is responsible for providing detailed program support of a new federal grant from the Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The project will focus on the creation of a mentoring program for youth impacted by opioids in rural Central Appalachia. Preference will be given to those who have experience working on public health projects. Specific tasks include managing a group of NRPA grant recipients, coordinating webinars and facilitating conference calls, presenting at conference sessions, meeting planning and logistics, updating NRPA web pages, preparing electronic communications, assisting with research activities, providing technical assistance to NRPA members, attending site visits, and coordinating work with other staff and NRPA members.

In this position, you will:
Coordinate and prepare written summaries of project activities, including meetings, conference calls, and site visits. ;
Support the senior program manager to provide and coordinate technical assistance for park and recreation agencies selected to receive grants to support local planning efforts;
Coordinate NRPA meetings and site visits- work with NRPA staff and outside consultants to coordinate meeting logistics, including site selection, agenda development, and travel arrangements;
Research and identify local park and recreation agencies in target region, develop Memorandum of Understandings, administer grant check requests, respond to grantee questions, and ensure grantees are meeting grant requirements through regular communication and reporting;
Assist in performing research activities, including conducting focus groups, utilizing needs assessment measurement tools, creating surveys and analyzing findings.

Salary: $40,000 - $45,000
