BookPeople’s Camp Half-Blood is seeking a full-time year-round Camp Director to run its thirteen-year old day camp program based on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series of books written by Rick Riordan. Camp Half-Blood takes place at McKinney Falls State Park outside of Austin, Texas each summer and serves kids aged 9-17. The camp seeks to bring the stories of Percy Jackson to life and to inspire a lifelong love of reading in its campers.
The camps have historically included activities like archery, capture the flag, lessons on Greek mythology, jousting and phalanx training, among other activities. In addition, each camp session tells a story inspired by the Percy Jackson universe, allowing campers to experience quests just like their favorite demigod characters in the books.
BookPeople is seeking a candidate with experience in camp management including:
Insurance and Licensing
Website management (preferably the Campsite camp management software)
Human Resources (hiring, training, record keeping, etc.)
Budgeting and financial record-keeping and reporting
The Camp Director will work closely with the Creative Director (also full-time and year-round) who will be responsible for story-building and activity planning for campers.
