Valley Lo’s Junior Sport Club day camp is a nationally recognized, award winning program! We are an American Camp Association accredited camp and average about 400 campers (aged 7-13) a summer. This is the only place on the North Shore (20 miles north of Chicago) where children can experience such a wide variety of outdoor activities – all in one exceptional summer program. Position Assistant Director - Junior Sports Club
II. Job Summary (Essential Functions) Mentor, supervise, and evaluate all summer camp staff. Assist the Recreations Director/Camp Director in all aspects of the Junior Sports Club operation. Be the example of what a "Professional Role Model" looks like. Position is salary. Duties will require the position to work more than normal camp hours (7AM-2PM) and may include some Saturdays as well.
III. Job Tasks (Additional Responsibilities) 1. Create a safe environment (physically and emotionally) for campers and staff. 2. Enforcing the Code of Conduct and the Six Pillars of Character (Disciplinary Policy) 3. Provide quality service to all members and staff. 4. Monitor and supervise activities. 5. Prepare weekly activity reports as required. 6. Work with JSC Director to plan and evaluate on-going educational and entertainment programs. 7. Help produce children’s communications for members, including the weekly newsletters/video blogs. 8. Interact with other departments to promote youth programs. 9. Assist with any set up of programs, arts and crafts and any supply orders. 10. Coordinate, inventory, and organize closet of first aid, sports equipment, arts and crafts, stationary supplies. 11. Help facilitate and organize the lunch times by letting groups in the building in an organized and timely fashion. 12. Anticipate and be responsible for Rain Day Programming and activitiy supplies. 13. Design, develop and implement a employee recognition system for the summer. 14. Contact all groups first thing in the morning and get lunch counts from all grade and gender groups 15. Accompany groups on trips if needed 16. Help with copying and coordination of staff training including sign-up sheet, name tags, etc. 17. Distribute and replenish first aid kits for counselors and groups. 18. Convey any problems or potential issues encountered. 19. Help with any set up needed before camp starts (Jerseys, signage, meting material) 20. Type up attendance lists, distribute and collect from all counselors on a daily basis 21. Assist with planning all orientation and staff meetings. 22. Be a liaison between Camp Director and Waterfront Director/Lifeguards. 23. Assist with the CIT Program and CIT Director.

Salary: $15.00 to $20.00 /hour
V. Qualifications 1. Must be over 18 (over 21 preferred). 2. Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification. 3. Previous experience in camp or other youth programming with at least one year in a supervisory position.
4. Must be available June-August 2019.
VI. Physical Demands and Work Environment 1. Continuous walking and standing. 2. Frequent lifting, pulling, bending, stooping, and repetitive actions. 3. Push, pull or lift 50 pounds. 4. Ability to project voice and get attention of and cooperation from campers. 5. Primarily work outdoors including in inclement weather.
