The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), a six-time National Recreation and Parks Association Gold Medal Award Winner, is seeking two Senior Plumbers to work within Montgomery Parks. The department serves a diverse population of more than one million residents in Montgomery County, Maryland, and manages 421 parks on more than 37,000 acres of parkland. The Department has an annual operating budget of over $100 million, a six-year Capital Improvement Program of over $180 million, and a career staff of nearly 800 employees.
The Department of Parks, Facilities Management Division, seeks two experienced Senior Plumbers to assist in resolving plumbing issues for the entire Park and Planning department in Montgomery County. Under general supervision, performs the full range of difficult, skilled plumbing and gas fitting work involving considerable responsibility, complexity, and variety. Performs installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of plumbing/gas fitting systems at Commission buildings, structures, and property. May direct activities of other Plumbers, Trades Trainees, and Park/General Maintenance Workers who support skilled trades workers. Work is checked by inspectors, Trade Shop Supervisors, and Lead Plumbers. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experienced Journeyman Plumber specializing in service area.
Will be provided with truck during work hours and all necessary tools, supplies, including uniform (which includes safety shoes) and protective equipment to get the job done.
Work is varied and very complex in skill level.
New installation work will become part of responsibilities within a year of employment.
Persons holding this position are required to meet all medical fitness requirements including being able to lift 75-lbs; pass controlled/substance and alcohol testing.
Work Hours – 6:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Valid Driver's License.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements may be required, but not a prerequisite for hiring.
1. H.S. diploma or GED; and
2. Completion of an approved plumbing/gas fitting apprentice program or four years of progressively responsible experience; and
3. Two years of experience at the journey level; or
4. An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling six years.
5. Valid Journey Plumber's License and Gas Fitter Certification issued by appropriate local jurisdiction.
6. WSSC back flow/cross connection license within six months of employment.
7. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements may be required.
8. Valid driver's license.
9. Pass Commission medical examination.
