The City of Eugene Public Works Department is hiring two Landscape Architects to help implement an updated vision for Parks and Open Space in Eugene. The vision for Parks and Recreation in Eugene is a system of beautiful, inspiring places that foster personal, community and environmental health while upholding four core principles:
Care for and make the most of what we have
Serve the entire community
Create more connections
Build better partnerships
This is the foundation of the recently completed Picture. Plan. Play. A Vision and Implementation plan for Eugene's Parks and Recreation System, which can be found at www.eugparksandrec.org. Eugene voters recently passed two ballot measures to implement this plan, providing additional funding to maintain and renovate existing parks and recreation assets and to expand the system into underserved areas of the city.
Two additional Landscape Architects are needed to complete these and other important City priorities. One position will reside in the Parks and Open Space Division of Public Works and the other will work in the Engineering Division of Public Works. While the duties, skills and qualifications are generally shared, the focus of work varies based upon which Division the position resides. In the Parks and Open Space Division, the focus is on public land management, conceptual design development and public engagement. The focus of work in Engineering is on final design, construction documents and specifications, project bidding, and construction administration and inspection.
