The Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Department is seeking a Parks/Cemetery Supervisor to supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing parks construction, maintenance, and repair services within the Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands Department; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing parks construction, maintenance, and repair services; call out emergency crews; direct, coordinate and review the work plan for the cemetery; recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; supervise the use and operation of tools, equipment, and vehicles; assume responsibility for the sale of graves, niches, and crypts; issue permits for markers and monuments; collect all ground and mausoleum sales funds; maintain appropriate records; arrange and schedule burials, internments and entombments and assist at funerals. Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Work Schedule:8:00 – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, hours may vary based on operational needs
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Parks/Recreation Management, Natural Resource Management, or a related field is preferred
Four or more years’ related experience with city government or supervisory experience and knowledge of park department functions and operations is required
Ability to obtain Montana Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License, Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certificate (National Park & Recreation Association), and Certified Pool Operators Certification (National Swimming Pool Foundation) or Aquatic Facility Operator Certification (National Park & Recreation Association) within the first year of employment
