The purpose of this position is to manage the overall daily facility and Recreation Center Team operations for community recreation centers. Work involves planning, developing, implementing and monitoring programs for patrons; preparing and monitoring revenue and expenditures; hiring, training, supervising, scheduling and evaluating staff; maintaining security; and working with community organizations.
Examples of Duties
Prepares forecasts and recommends budget requests, cost estimates and justifications; closely monitors all expenditures and revenue generation; prepares reports and presents to directors on a quarterly basis; researches and prepares purchase orders; works with vendors for contract negotiations; develops and implements strategies for revenue generation; maintains, follows and updates the facility business plan.
Hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates Recreation Center Team by monitoring employee behavior and administers appropriate action; assigns and monitors job duties of Recreation Team Members and volunteers; approves and processes employee timecards; leads customer service training opportunities.
Recommends and manages programs for community centers; works with community organizations to cultivate relationships and improve programming opportunities; assists with planning, implementing and evaluating city-wide special events and community center events.
Ensures all equipment is safe and in working order by handling safety related inspections on facility or equipment; ensures facility is current and up to date; frequently works evenings and weekends to meet facility operations demands. Maintains building security.
Represents City of Round Rock at community functions by reviewing and practicing risk management procedures; maintains proper certification for FEMA Emergency Facility Manager; assists with front desk administrative duties to includes registering customer, monetary transactions; attend management, director, departmental and city-wide meetings and training.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Parks Administration, Recreation Administration, or a related field.
Three (3) or more years of experience in parks and/or recreation administration activities or in a similar position. Supervisory experience preferred.
