The position is responsible for getting grant funding out to communities across North Dakota for outdoor recreation projects. This entails effective grant management, knowledge of federal and state guidelines, ensures environmental concerns are identified and mitigated, identify the outdoor recreation needs via statewide planning efforts, and coordination among communities and agencies to meet these statewide outdoor recreation needs identified in the planning process. Other ancillary duties include assistance with the Department's Title VI non-discrimination program.
Coordinate and manage federal and state grant programs.
Develop and implement grant application processes.
Manage Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and Community Grant Programs.
Serves as liaison to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), National Park Service (NPS) and North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT).
Update grant manuals and application forms.
Distribute information of grant opportunities.
Review and score grant applications.
Assist in awarding grants.
Monitor project spending and process project reimbursements.
Maintain and update project files.
Coordinate grant updates on the agency’s website.
Maintain and participate in advisory committees.
Manage financial information for grant
Work with project sponsors to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Work with federal and state agencies to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Inspect project sites to ensure compliance.
Complete active project close out documents.
Provide requested information to the public and other entities.
Assist in outdoor recreation outreach.
Monitor compliance of programs or projects to assure receipt of federal funds.
Edit public information content for the public.
Assist the Title VI Coordinator with Title VI program requirements.
Provide information and support to North Dakota Scenic Byways.
Facilitate State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Planning (SCORP) process.
Participate in grant training sessions and webinars.
Requires a bachelor’s degree with a major in recreation management, planning, business or public administration plus two (2) years of experience in grant administration or three (3) years of experience in recreation management, organizational management or other related field.
