Bethany College is seeking qualified applicants for the full time position of Director of Athletic Communications. This position will report to the Director of Athletics & Recreation. The candidate will oversee the day-to-day coverage of all 22 intercollegiate sports at Bethany. Primary responsibilities include updating and editing athletic department web site; managing the athletic department’s social media presence; writing and editing press releases and feature stories; creation and editing of athletic and selected college publications; compiling statistics and filing regular reports as required by the NCAA, PAC and ECAC; assistance with game day and press box/row operations; other tasks as assigned. Ability to work nights and weekends required and some travel to specified events will be expected as well.
Required minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism or related field, two years of successful experience, preferably in a college sports information office, and familiarity with appropriate software (Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, StatCrew). Knowledge of and adherence to Bethany, NCAA Division III and Presidents' Athletic Conference rules and regulations are also required.
