General Statement Of Duties: Supervise, plan, organize, lead district sponsorships, marketing and promotions, naming rights, corporate relations, program grants, advertising sales, fund raising campaigns, community outreach efforts, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate effective multimedia marketing and graphic communications, programs and events; evaluate business and market trends to assist with marketing efforts; support strategic management issues; supervise the development and maintenance of the district's web site.
Distinguishing Features Of The Class: An employee in this classification is responsible for supervising staff; planning, coordinating, completing and implementing the day-to-day details of the district's Community Engagement efforts. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Director of Recreation Services who reviews work primarily on the basis of results attained and community feedback. Supervision is provided to departmental staff, volunteers, and other program support personnel who may be hired either on a regular or temporary basis.

Oversee a comprehensive, high-profile resource development program, utilizing all available partners, sponsors, vendors, and prospects.
Foster relationships with new and existing sponsors and partners.
Represent Willamalane Park and Recreation District at various external and internal networking events and opportunities, civic groups, community and/or non-profit organizations as needed.
Work closely with the Recreation Services Director to prepare, publish, and distribute presentations, strategic reports, and promotional materials.
Manage client relationships and sponsor recognition at special events and programs.
Use a desktop publishing system to create documents and publications.
Train and supervise Community Engagement employees, including assigning work hours and/or work tasks, evaluate performance, provides training, takes necessary disciplinary action, and make hiring and termination decisions.
Identify opportunities for Community Engagement within their responsibilities including but not limited to: vendors, grants, partnerships, local, state and regional businesses.
Assist with the arrangement, scheduling and tracking of media trade agreements, along with securing in-kind donations and contributions to provide services and prizes for department events and programs.
Assist with District promotional efforts and Division-wide recreation initiatives and special events as it relates to Community Engagement. Conduct marketing research as needed.
Create, prepares and presents weekly and monthly reports and spreadsheets as requested.
Seek and secure grants for programs and operations.
Maintain effective contacts with the print and broadcast media.
Coordinate all fund-raising and development efforts. Act as liaison for non-profit organizations whose main goal is to support the district.
Supervise the conducting of surveys and evaluations for resource development programs and tabulation of data.
Generate advertising revenue for District publications, website, signage and other potential sales opportunities.
Assist division directors with serving as the central public information outlet for the District and as a resource for other staff who respond to the media.
Work with recreation director to develop and manage a district-wide marketing plan with heavy emphasis on recreational programs, services, facilities and events.
Manage and update a dynamic, interactive web site, highlighting the district's mission, initiatives, programs and services.
Supervise the district's social media marketing and implement latest industry trends and tools.
Prepare budget recommendations for program area; review and monitor expenditures and revenues; purchase necessary supplies and equipment within authorized spending limits.
Provide exceptional internal customer service while working closely with staff to design, implement and manage targeted marketing efforts that increase program participation and district revenues.
Coordinate the design and production of marketing projects for district, department, and special initiatives, including recreation guides, newsletters, coupons, flyers, brochures, signage, informational and merchandising displays, logos, advertisements, and other district special projects.
Supervise delivering and picking up marketing materials in a timely manner; coordinating printing and publication activities; gathering information for reports, presentations, and other marketing activities; and coordinating the printing of materials.
Analyze, forecast and measure outcomes and return on investment from campaigns and marketing efforts.
Develop and manage marketing analytics and metrics, measuring effectiveness of marketing and advertising strategies and recommending changes as appropriate.
Attend meetings and committees to enhance the District's community outreach efforts.
Assess environment for risks and corrects potential hazardous conditions. Report all work-related employee incidents and patron incidents. Ensure employees are held to district safety, security and loss control standards.
Communicate professionally, effectively and works cooperatively with all Willamalane staff, support organizations, other departments, agencies, and the general public.
Knowledge: Knowledge of sales, marketing and fundraising methods, principles and techniques; strong oral and written communication skills, creative thinking; ability to effectively manage simultaneous deadlines; proficient in use of multimedia and social media; organizing, tracking and reporting; grant writing and implementation; problem solving skills; human relations skills, and public speaking.

Physical Demands Of The Position: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, and stoop, occasionally in conjunction with reaching for and manipulating objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials weighing up to 30-60 pounds occasionally such as boxes/bags of activity materials, equipment, etc. On occasion, the employee is required to remain standing and mobile for 2-10 hours at a time for events and other special occasions. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period while working in this position. Duties of this position are mainly performed inside but occasionally the employee is required to be outside for extended periods of time and exposure to seasonal weather extremes is possible. Exposure to loud noise is low, and never necessitates hearing protection. Persons with disabilities may be able to perform the essential duties of this class with reasonable accommodation. Experience And Training: Bachelor's degree required in recreation, communications, hospitality, public administration, or a related field and four years of experience in resource development coordination, sales, marketing or a similar field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above-described duties. Verifiable success in fundraising and sponsorship/partnership identification, cultivation, solicitation.
Necessary Special Requirements: Valid Oregon Driver's License required.
Hours/Shift: Outside of established workweek hours, may work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, meetings, and on-call status as needed including weather related schedule adjustment.
