PRCS is seeking an After School Specialist to join our Children’s Program Division. The After School Specialist reports directly to the Children’s Program Coordinator and serves as a School Age Specialist to provide: program management, planning and supervision; staff supervision, mentoring and evaluation. The After School Specialist contributes to the development and implementation of program policies and procedures, plans and conducts staff development sessions for the County’s After School Activities’ (CASA) program.
Candidates must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to: hire site staff, assure the inclusion of participants with special needs, facilitate team meetings and 1:1 meetings, ensure the quality of program design, development and implementation for an identified cluster of CASA Elementary School sites; be knowledgeable of and uphold VA Department of Social Services’ Licensing Standards, maintain CASA values and Curriculum standards, establish a customer focus by seeking clarity on the expectations, values and priorities of our customers, oversee the organization of staff, participant files and records. People with a positive mindset and proactive work-style are just what our customers expect. As part of the County’s After School Activities (CASA) program, top priorities for this position will include supervising CASA staff at various elementary schools.
In addition, this position will:
Assess and identify program needs, design program activities, provide program evaluation, assist with budget development and management, manage registration and fee payments, and substitute for CASA staff as needed

Work schedule: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; some flexibility for beginning work at 9 am, with the option of flexing time

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in recreation, education or related field, plus a minimum of two years’ related experience preferably operating and supervising children’s recreation and instructional activities
Virginia State Licensing requires additional experience supervising children during recreational or educational activities. Programmatic experience and prior staff supervision experience required and must be indicated on the application
Perform moderate physical activity to include lifting, standing and stooping
Successful candidates will undergo a criminal background, Child Protective Services (CPS), credit and DMV record checks
Have and maintain a valid driver’s license
Certification in First Aid, CPR for adult, infant and child must be obtained within 30 days of hire date, MAT, VA Pre-Service Training and Daily Health Check
Negative TB test required prior to beginning work
Additional training may be required as program and participant needs change
