GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Performs difficult professional and administrative work managing the Recreation Services Library Division; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision is exercised over all division personnel.
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and evaluates Library programs and services for all segments of the
Authorizes requests related to the acquisition of Library supplies, materials, and online resources;
Prepares and submits division budget to Director and monitors division expenditures; makes budget
forecasts and CIP projections;
Coordinates division activities with other divisions of the department;
Researches and prepares reports for the Director;
Prepares and maintains administrative records;
Provides for the training and professional development of division personnel;
Responds to citizen and agency requests for information on division activities;
Coordinates activities of program personnel;
Manages and coordinates maintenance and repairs of the physical plant;
Acts as the City liaison to the Library Advisory Board and the Friends of the Boca Raton Public Library.
Researches, prepares proposals, and administers a variety of grant programs and projects;
Evaluates division personnel performance; recommends personnel action as required;
Represents the Director and division at various meetings;
Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Comprehensive knowledge of the philosophies, principles, and practices of public library administration; comprehensive understanding of library technology and its application in public libraries; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to develop and administer Library programs and services suited to the needs of the community; ability to plan, coordinate, assign, and review the activities of personnel involved in Library programs and services; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, employees, social organizations, and the general public; ability to prepare and maintain detailed reports and records.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university, with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public library administration and management. Six (6) years of experience with library technology is required.
Possession of a valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period.
