The Westerville Parks and Recreation Department is a four-time recipient of the National Gold Medal Award from the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) for excellence in park and recreation administration. The department focuses heavily on NRPA’s three pillars of health and wellness, conservation, and social equity; and is also nationally accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).
The Westerville community prioritizes and supports parks and recreation services. Recent survey results indicate that 93% of citizens in Westerville utilize parks and recreation services offered through the department. Citizens also recently voted overwhelmingly to renew the dedicated income tax source in support of community parkland/green space development and recreational services - six years prior to expiring.
Applications for a Recreation Program Manager position are currently being accepted to fulfill a key role within the organization and continue our tradition of award-winning services and programs for the City of Westerville. This position will develop Pre-school programs, classes, and activities; assist with facility operations at the Westerville Community Center; as well as lead a team responsible for adult programming, volunteers, community-wide special events, and outdoor recreation services.
