Responsible for the operation, maintenance and supervision of the grounds and infrastructure at Pinecrest Gardens.
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Manages the day-to-day operation of the Gardens to maximize safe, efficient and cost effective operations.
Coordinates and oversees preventive and routine maintenance of all facilities, structures, building repairs and infrastructure.
Supervises, assigns and schedules the work of subordinate staff and contractors engaged in grounds and building maintenance and Garden events.
Provides special events support by working closely with the Program and Events Coordinator to ensure staffing and set-up of equipment is adequate.
Maintains all facility maintenance records.
Prepares and submits weekly and/or monthly reports.Assists in the preparation of the annual budget.
Provides or arranges for materials and equipment for garden programs, activities and events.
Supervises recreation programs at Pinecrest Gardens including the Splash N Play and Petting Zoo areas.
Oversees the care and well-being of petting zoo animals.
Prepares and maintains all inventory for cleaning supplies and concession items.
Performs safety inspections to ensure a safe operation and determines maintenance and/or repair needs.
Maintains surveillance of garden grounds and facilities.
Supervises concession and negotiates best pricing for products purchased.
Conducts regular training of subordinate staff to maintain and improve quality customer service standards and ensure standards and policies are adhered to.
Evaluates subordinates and takes disciplinary action as necessary for violations of department and/or Village policies and procedures manual.
Attends weekly staff meetings and other meetings as directed by the Pinecrest Gardens Director.
Must be prepared and available to work during a hurricane in the Village's EOC.
Ability and responsibility to effectively work independently and exercise discretion and independent judgment.Ability to get along with others and work effectively with the public and fellow workers.
Perform any other assigned duties.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation, Landscape Management, Park Management or closely related field.
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in the operation of public park facilities and recreation services or related activities. Horticultural certification or Landscape Architectural degree a plus.
Two (2) years supervisory experience is desirable.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License status in the State of Florida.
Ability to be certified in food handling and aquatic facility operations.
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, or a similar word processing program.
Ability to meet and deal with the public in an effective and courteous manner.
Ability to fluently speak, hear, read and write the English language.Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
Applicants must complete all requirements established by the Village of Pinecrest for employment. This may include, but not limited to, a written examination, typing test, psychological screening to determine suitability for position, polygraph examination, comprehensive background investigation, and a job-related medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening test.
Must be a non-smoker.
The minimum requirements may be waived by the Village Manager
