Under general supervision, performs basic manual labor and maintenance and/or public service or guide assignments in the County Park System; and performs related work as required.
This is an Open Competitive / Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current seasonal vacancy in Community Services Department – Regional Parks and Open Space Division. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur. Seasonal Positions are full or part-time and last no longer than 6 months.
Background checks will be conducted on selected applicants through the State of Nevada and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Some positions may require a valid driver’s license.
Seasonal hourly employees are exempt employees. “Seasonal hourly employee” means position is not to exceed six (6) months. Seasonal Hourly employees are “at will” employees and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
This is not a classified position and is not covered by a collective bargaining unit.
Retired PERS (Public Employees’ Retirement System of Nevada) employees are responsible for contacting PERS to make sure that they do not go over the assigned PERS earnings limit for a fiscal year in order to retain retirement benefits. PERS phone number is 775/687-4200 to check for yearly updates.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
1. After your application in screened, you will be notified via the email you provided whether or not you have met the minimum requirements for the position.
Those applicants who do not meet the qualifications have five (5) working days to file an appeal, and request a review of their qualifications.
2. The selection process will consist of an application evaluation weighted 100%. Applicants who meet the requirements for the Seasonal Recreation Leader position will be placed on an unranked eligible list. Candidates whose names are on the eligible list will be referred to the hiring department at close of the recruitment.
3. Candidates that appear to most closely match the Experience and Training Requirements will be interviewed by the department and will be notified by email or telephone to be scheduled for an interview.
Three months public contact experience; OR graduation from high school or GED equivalent; OR four months Latchkey experience (1/2 school year).
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE
Some assignments may require certification in Basic First Aid and CPR.
