The Community Recreation Services Division Manager directs and oversees all recreation facilities, programming, and services offered by the City. The position is directly responsible for maintaining and increasing the department's impacts and return on investment related to its core purposes: Creating Economic Impact, Advancing Conservation, Rejuvenating Health & Wellness, and Enhancing Quality of Life. The individual in this position serves as an integral part of the department's leadership team and leads visioning and goal setting in an effort to ensure that exceptional high quality, accessible recreational programs and services are available citywide. The Community Recreation Services Division Manager is responsible for ensuring the provision of exceptional, diverse leisure experiences for Greensboro residents and visitors from all walks of life. The individual in this role is responsible for leading the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of all recreation programs and facility operations, offered both in-house and through contractual service providers; budget development and oversight; revenue projection and fund development; contract negotiation and management; and personnel management for his/her team including talent recruitment, training, staffing, and performance management. The position provides complex, highly skilled administrative support for the Director and Deputy Director and routinely engages with the community as a lead City representative.

Possesses excellent communication skills – used in order to successfully negotiate and write contracts; develop relationships; and provide trainings to staff and presentations to neighborhood groups, the Parks & Recreation Commission, and City Council.
Can interact and relate well with diverse audiences, and desires to work with other divisions and departments in the pursuit of excellence.
Has demonstrated leadership in current or previous roles which entailed successfully mitigating conflicts and complex personnel issues.
Understands the importance of strategic goal setting and evaluation and is capable of making difficult decisions based upon priorities and desired results.
Is able to effectively educate and persuade others as to the relevance and essential nature of recreational services and wants to work with stakeholders and community organizations towards solving complex issues.
Has demonstrated his/her commitment to continuing education through the pursuit of professional certifications and trainings; and to the advancement of the profession through leadership within his/her agency, professional associations, and the broader community.
This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm; (with frequent evenings and weekends)
Bachelor's Degree with 7 to 9 years of progressively responsible experience within Parks and Recreation or similar agency
4 or more years of experience in working with commissions and community / partner organizations
Prior supervisory experience
Prior experience in budget development and management.
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
Bachelors or Master's Degree in Parks & Recreation Management, Public Administration, and/or Business Management
Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Park & Recreation Executive (CPRE) certification
Experience with recreation management software (e.g., RecTrac)
Prior experience in developing and leading staff trainings
