The Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a qualified candidate to be considered for the position of P&R Custodial/Mall Operations Manager (Management Specialist I)who are highly motivated and who strive for success by demonstrating Charlottesville's Core Values of Commitment, Integrity, Respect, Innovation, and Collaboration.
The P&R Custodial/Mall Operations Manager (Management Specialist I) is responsible for the direct management of multiple departmental functions and city-wide programs. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of Park Division facilities, maintenance, services, and staff of Parks custodial services, Downtown Mall and UVA Corner. Working independently, manages the overall development, execution, and evaluation of core Departmental functions, including custodial services in Parks, Downtown Mall/UVA Corner operations and contracted services. Performs other duties as assigned. This position reports to a Deputy Director or Management Specialist II, dependent upon assignment.

The City of Charlottesville manages its own retirement system and does not participate in VRS, however the City has a Portability Agreement with VRS and there are certain provisions that must be met. Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in recreation and park management or other pertinent related field;
Four (4) years of experience in work related to parks or recreation, including responsible administrative/managerial experience, preferably in the applicable functional area.
Special Requirements:
Requires a valid Virginia driver's license by start date of employment;
Depending on assignment, exposure to conditions typical of active construction sites on a regular basis;
