This is a full-time, 12-month position to start as soon as possible after closing. Salary is $37,500+ depending on qualifications and experience, excellent benefits.Summary:The Assistant Athletic Director will work within the Athletic Academic Program at Southern Utah University to oversee academic support for all sport teams and bolster graduation success among student-athletes. Primary responsibilities include oversight of the academic support staff, provide academic advising for graduation plans, maintain the current program of academic support, performing academic planning with academically at-risk students, and assisting with academic eligibility certification.General Duties and Responsibilities: 1.Oversees the academic support aspect of a comprehensive NCAA Division I athletic program2.Responsible for the direct oversight and management of the athletics academic support staff (full time, tutoring, and study hall monitors)3.Serve as the campus liaison to faculty and staff in particular the staffs of the Admissions Office and Office of the Registrar4.Ensure academic success of all student-athletes while monitoring individual compliance with NCAA rules5.Monitor overall academic progress of student-athletes through campus software and faculty progress reports6.Identify academic needs of student-athletes and coordinate support services, including learning disability testing7.Communicate with coaches and faculty members regarding student progress8.Complete evaluations for academic eligibility, tracking the admissions status, assessment and pre-registration of all new student-athletes9.Assist the Associate Athletic Director of Compliance with initial eligibility, through NCAA Clearinghouse information10.Oversee textbook scholarship ordering and returns11.Occasionally travel with sport teams to proctor exams and facilitate study hall 12.Conduct Initial and Transfer Academic Eligibility Evaluations13.APR and Graduation Rates Projections and NCAA Filing14.Approving official and unofficial visits15.Game day monitoring for recruits16.Tracking participation for each sport
Required Qualifications 1. Bachelor’s degree 2. Two years of experience in an NCAA athletic department, preferably working in the areas of academics and/or compliance 3. Strong interpersonal skills and social aptitude for encouraging student success and wellbeing 4. Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and keep personal information confidential 5. Adherence to NCAA rules and regulations, particularly those regarding academic integrity 6. Competency with basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Google Drive In accordance with Utah State Code 53B-1-110, appointment to this position is contingent upon the successful passing of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications 1. Master’s Degree 2. Experience working in the academic support area of a Division I Athletic Department 3. Familiarity with Jumpstart, Banner and EAB Student Success Collaborative software
