In this position, you will provide programs and opportunitites for youth and adults with disabilities to acquire skills which enable them to participate in leisure experiences of their choice and enhance their abilities to function within a community setting.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise the Therapeutic Recreation Program for persons with disabilities, including intellectual/developmental, physical/neurological, and emotional/behavioral
Develop individual participant plans and set measurable and attainable goals
Train, supervise and evaluate full-time and seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers; ensure safety ratios and increase the number of persons served
Facilitate staff meetings; provide staff and educational opportunities
Develop and monitor program budget, including researching grants and alternative funding sources
Serve as an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) programming specialist; advocate for persons with disabilities
Act as an information and referral source for educational opportunities
Develop relationships and network with state and local organizations and advocacy groups; provide a valid and efficient continuum of service
Perform administrative functions, including gathering and reporting statistics, monitoring contracts, reviewing expenditures, registrations, and transportation schedules

Experience in grant writing and/or fundraising
Experience in developing community partnerships
Supervision Exercised: Work requires managing and monitoring work performance by directing subordinate supervisors, incluidng making final decision on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.
RELEVANT BACKGROUND AND FORMAL EDUCATION:
The selected individual is required to have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in therapeutic recreation or a related field.
The selected individual will also have a minimum of three years of full-time recreation therapist and program administration experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
The selected individual will also possess the following certifications and licenses:
Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
Medication Administration Certification
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation/First Aid
Finally, the selected individul will also possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license.
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally. Transferring persons with disabilities and moving adaptive equipment frequently is also required.
