The City of Takoma Park seeks a Recreation Programs Manager II to provide specialized duties related to the City's recreation functions. The incumbent will use their expertise performing a number of tasks associated with the operations of the department’s athletic fields including coordinating landscape contracts, developing and managing sports leagues and programs, and coordinating department use with the Montgomery County Interagency Coordinating Board (ICB). Additionally, the incumbent will be supervising community outreach personnel, teen programs and staff, facility staff, and other programs and/or personnel as assigned. The starting salary for this vacancy is $65,419.71 annually, or $31.45 per hour. The salary will commensurate upon experience. This position is not subject to membership within the AFSCME Union. The first screening date for applications will be April 3, 2017.
Develops, implements and supervises a variety of recreation programs
Partners with community groups, schools and local businesses to determine recreational service needs and develop related programming
Hires, trains, assigns, schedules, supervises, evaluates and disciplines personnel
Coordinates outreach efforts to improve program participation and youth initiatives
Researches trends, demographics and community needs to develop and update programming; evaluates existing programming to identify needed improvements
Manages and evaluates budget administration for applicable programs
Prepares a variety of regular and special reports
Assists with department-wide special events
Manages and organizes department submissions for the Montgomery County ICB
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field; and
Minimum of five to seven years’ of experience within a related field
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license
