Summary: Provides outstanding visitor experience and protects park resources with primary responsibility for overseeing Hampton Beach State Park custodial and grounds operations to include oversight of extensive waste management system through trash and recycling programs. Monitors park conditions daily and assesses immediate and long-term needs.
Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, and evaluates custodial, grounds and general maintenance operations for Seacoast locations which include Hampton Beach State Park, North Hampton State Beach, and applicable other park areas as assigned. Efficiently cares for state buildings and grounds. Works with Regional Supervisor and facility maintenance staff in inspection of contract work to ensure compliance with terms and quality control. As a member of the Seacoast leadership team, coordinates with other regional work units and parks including Park Patrol, Facilities Management, and Lifeguards to provide a streamlined operation and supplement necessary resources with other units. Ensures park is maintained to the highest standards of appearance and function including beach cleaning, bathroom function and appearance, waste collection and removal, sidewalk and parking lot cleanliness, facility interior and exterior condition and appearance, lawn and landscaping appearance, and sign appropriateness and condition. Ensures properly functioning infrastructure and supporting equipment. Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates a large number of seasonal employees with assistance of subordinate managers who are accountable for overall custodial and grounds operations, ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures. Manages payroll cost and function, schedules assigned staff, maintains flexibility to account for weather, events and seasonal responsibilities, and delegates responsibilities to achieve management expectations. Prepares, monitors and adheres to budgets, schedules and plans to maximize parks financial and service performance. Prepares regular reports on parks operations covering revenue, costs, visitation, forecasts, conformance with budget, and parks condition. Develops innovative solutions to address parks issues. Supports events at the park by providing supervision and staff in coordination with special events and the Events Coordinator primarily in the Seashell Complex area including the stage, conference rooms, and Ocean Front Pavilion Banquet Room. Fosters and maintains positive relationships with external organizations such as, but not limited to, Town of Hampton, Hampton Beach Village District, Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce, Police, Fire, EMS, Hampton Public Works Department, friends groups, special interest groups, elected officials, and local, state and federal government agencies. Adheres to park safety policies and checks safety conditions of trails, park buildings, grounds and behaviors to ensure the well-being of public and park employees. Enhances visitor experience by ensuring staff is assisting visitors, providing timely response to complaints and conditions, and treating people with respect. Prepares requisitions for supplies and equipment to keep the park up to approved standards. Writes up annual reports of maintenance operations and inventories to keep accurate and timely records of assigned equipment and assets and controls issuance of equipment, supplies, and materials. Cleans and performs routine and minor maintenance of vehicles and equipment and operates simple hand tools and equipment.
