The City of Westerville, Ohio is accepting applications for an Older Adult Services Manager to lead program design and manage a thriving community of active older adults in the nationally-recognized Westerville Parks and Recreation Department.
The Westerville Parks and Recreation Department is a four-time recipient of the National Gold Medal Award from the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) for excellence in park and recreation administration. The department is also nationally accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA). With these prestigious distinctions, the department is seeking a motivated, talented and experienced individual to continue our tradition of award-winning services and programs for a new generation of active, older adults.
The vision is clear: Westerville has adopted an expansive Parks, Recreation & Open Spaces (PROS) Master Plan with major programming and facility development associated with older adult services. The PROS plan, an overall blueprint of the vision and planning of the parks, facilities and programming for the department, is funded through a dedicated income tax source specific for community parkland/green space development and recreational services.
Through PROS, the department is committed to a long-range strategic plan, including expanding the recreational trail system, improving and enhancing existing neighborhood parks; and expanding the Westerville Community Center to include the relocation of the Older Adult Center to the Community Center.
Relocating the Older Adult Center from its current offsite location to the Community Center will be an important facet of this position. As the Community Center is expanded and the Older Adult Center is transitioned to the Community Center location, this position will be critical in the combining of older adult facilities and services with current facilities and services as well as working directly with other team members involved in PROS-related initiatives. Additionally, this position works closely with the Westerville Senior Advisory Board and the nonprofit Westerville Senior Association.
Service and program development focuses on interests active, older adults pursue in the Westerville community, including but not limited to health, wellness, recreation and volunteerism.
A successful candidate is experienced with facility planning and construction, developing and adhering to budgets and development timelines, has a proven record establishing program costs and fee recovery schedules. Partnership development and excellence in recreational programming and team management is essential. Creative, energetic and innovative individuals with knowledge of active, older adult communities are encouraged to apply.
Online applications only at www.westerville.org. Position open until filled.
