Under the supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, the Summer Recreation Intern will be involved in all aspects of the Parks and Recreation Department and will provide assistance with planning, implementing and organizing summer camp, community events and recreation programs.
This position is from late May through mid-August 2018. The intern will complete 40 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.
Plan and organize activities and programming for in-house Summer Playground Program.
Assist at Summer Playground Camp as needed.
Work with township staff on special projects, including but not limited to grant writing, fundraising, summer programming, tournament/event management, program evaluations and goal setting.
Develop press releases, flyers and other promotional material for distribution.
Establish and maintain cooperative planning and working relationships with other public and volunteer community agencies.
Attend meetings associated with the department and affiliated groups, including department staff meetings, staff training and coaches’ training/meetings.
Assist the Parks and Recreation Department with daily operations and tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Director or designated supervisor.
Must be a college student age 18 or older. All eligible applicants will be considered; however, preference will be given to: • Experienced South Fayette summer camp counselors • Parks and Recreation/Sports Management students • Those with recreation programming experience
