The City of Lake Forest Forestry Section is seeking an experienced forestry maintenance worker.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
removing dead or hazardous trees
tree planting and care
identifying trees, insect pests, and diseases affecting trees
operating chippers, chain saws and various other tree care equipment
participation in urban forestry management of City trees including analyzing, planning and implementing forestry needs according to City policies and goals.
Applicants must be of sound physical condition in order to perform heavy manual work in all types of weather and be able to operate a variety of mechanical equipment. Must be available for emergency call back, including storm damage and snow removal. Must be willing to work alternate work schedules during winter months or when Department workloads dictate. Applicant must demonstrate strong communication and computer skills.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, work well with others and have at least 3 to 5 years of forestry field experience. Certified arborist with tree-inventory software experience preferred.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess, or be able to obtain within six months of employment, a valid Class A commercial driver’s license and an Illinois Commercial Pesticide Applicator license.
