About the Position
The Parks & Community Services Department is seeking an Assistant Director to provide innovation, vision and management expertise for several Community Services divisions which provide a continuum (prevention, intervention and enhancement) of programs and services. The position directs and integrates Community Services work including the following;
Oversees three divisions: human services; misdemeanant probation; youth, teen and family services; and recreation facilities. Manages community partnerships as assigned.
Develops and implements broad policies and procedures and innovative approaches to service delivery, performance measurement and financial development and control.
Establishes and maintains a diverse working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity, and teamwork.
Recognizes the value and strength of a diverse work force and community and uses an equity and social justice lens to level the playing field.
Works collaboratively within the department, city and community to build positive relationships and community partnerships. Serves as a city’s representative to assigned committees and organizations.
Participates in or facilitates citywide committees and task forces.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in public administration, parks and recreation management, social work or related field.
Five or more years of progressively responsible related experience in Parks and Recreation, Human Services, Community Services and personnel management as well as supervisory experience.
Or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must pass a criminal background check prior to hire.
