We have an immediate opening for a Senior Program Specialist at the brand new Dulles South Recreation Center located in South Riding, VA. The recreation center will be a go-to destination center with its indoor leisure and competition pool, state of the art fitness center, full size gymnasium, indoor rock wall, special event and meeting rooms as well as a community center. The Senior Center, which is adjacent to the Recreation Center, will be a vibrant showcase of quality programming for adults 55 and older. As the Senior Program Specialist you will plan, develop and implement the daily Café program and other weekly, monthly and quarterly programs that meet wellness, educational, recreational and social needs for all senior center participants. You will complete needs assessments and re-assessments of clients and adjust program schedules and content to respond to participants requests and needs at the senior center. Administrative skills are needed as you assist with maintaining confidential participant records, including the use of State and County required database software. You will also assist as needed, with the coordination of facility rental use by notifying, supervising, and scheduling Facility Supervisor and provides back-up facility coordination of repairs and cleaning. Supervisory skills are needed to assist with the training and supervising of center staff and volunteers and coordinates volunteer activities. Provides back-up supervision for transportation services and substitutes as Passenger Vehicle Operator to transports seniors. Exercise your creativity and marketing skills as you promote programs via press releases, newsletters and flyers. And develop and implement outreach programs promoting activities, classes, special events and programs offered at and by the senior center.

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in psychology, Social Work, Recreation and coursework related to seniors and/or gerontology. Experience working with and planning programs for senior adults is highly preferred. Experience working with database software preferred. CPR/AED, first aid certification and Safeserv certification for meal program required. Possession of commercial driver’s license (CDL), Class C required. Prefer CDL at time of hire, however will provide assistance to successful candidate to obtain appropriate CDL license within 90 days of hire. The incumbent of this position must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
